The environment

El Rocio
El Rocio is the place where the statue "Virgen del Rocio" was found many years ago, which is why a church and subsequently a village were built in its place.
This place is today an incredibly traditional pilgrimage site.
What's special about it? The whole city has sandy streets and squares, fully designed to be visited on horseback; carriages, mules, and oxcarts also support the Andalusian tradition.
The Coto Donana National Park is located directly adjacent.

Coto Doana National Park
The national park covers the entire Donana region, is 54,000 hectares in size, and includes other surrounding nature parks, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The diversity of wetlands (Marismas), shifting dunes, pine forests and beaches makes this place so popular with countless animals.
But the most famous are probably the horses called Marismenio.
Every year during the Saca de la Jegua, they are driven from the park through El Rocio to Almonte.
